Searching for Sunset was launched on July 30, 2003. It updates every Wednesday and Saturday, though the first comic was uploaded on the Tuesday before, instead--this was so I could figure out the site without waiting for it to be the next day!
Searching for Sunset is a fantasy tale concocted mainly of a child's fancy become reality--no, the main character is not a child with an overactive imagination; instead, the situation of the comic seems like a child's fancy come true. If you've ever sat down and thought, "wouldn't the world be great if things worked like this?", Searching for Sunset takes place in a world where such a thing does work.
Keep in mind, though, that most of the characters in the series are not children.
Though this is a spritecomic, all of the artwork is original. While I do use sprite sheets to create my comics, all of the sprites were created, pixel by pixel, by me--they are not based off of any kind of video game.
About the Author/Artist
My name is Eliza, and I was born on November 7, 1984 (which at this moment in time makes me eighteen years old). I live in the hot dusty little corner of the United States known as Tucson, Arizona. Despite the heat in July and August, I really do like it here. I graduated high school in May of 2002, and currently I'm planning on taking some time off school (for my own sanity), as it's not exactly my natural habitat. (Otherwise I would be going into my sophomore year.) I adore pixel art of every kind, as you can see by this comic. I have one dog at home; her name is Shelby (click for a picture) and she's a total mutt but still very cute. She's five years old and I love her so much, she's lots of fun.
I'm a huge fan of RPG Gaming, in fact, that's what got me into sprites in the first place. I wanted to make my own game like that. I still sort of do; I would love to play party to a sprite-based RPG game. However, I value story over the graphics and artwork on a game, so right now my favorite game is Xenosaga. Xenogears was just awesome, and I couldn't wait to play Xenosaga when it came out; I wasn't disappointed. The only thing that makes Xenosaga my favorite, really, is I somehow feel closer to the characters (my favorite is chaos!). It's possible that my love for these games slightly influences the story of my comic, but I try not to let it. After all, the characters in my comic don't wander around methodically fighting monsters...
